Plot

From the Foreward of the "Ever since the Corning Museum of Glass opened in 1951, it's staff has been interested in glass made in Russia. Our first acquisitions included examples of 19th century Russian glass. During the last 39 years, the collections have been enriched with further acquisitions, many of the gifts, which allow us to demonstrate modestly the history of glassmaking in Russia from the beginning of the 18th century to the present. When compared to the collections in the Soviet Union, however, our holdings pale. We decided nearly 10 years ago that a special exhibition of glass made in Russia should be presented in Corning, and that we should try to interest colleagues in Russian museums in sharing their treasure temporarily with Americans. The response to our invitation was beyond out wildest hopes.....
