In the wake of Jean Grey's most recent death, Cyclops assembles a new team of X-Men, specifically designed to deliver as a group of superheroes. Though Logan makes it clear that he does not appreciate Scott's relationship with Emma, he does participate, along with Beast and Shadowcat. Just after this decision is made, two major events happen: a group of aliens take hostages for reasons still unrevealed, and Dr. Kavita Rao announces that she is able to cure the mutant gene.
