Crisis On Earth-Prime - The "Mystery Men" of October

In 1947, Per Degaton watches as the assembled members of the Justice Society and All Star Squadron battle each other in gladatorial combat in his honour before Professor Zee, Degaton's one-time supervisor, wakes them with a call. At this, they turn their fury against Degaton and his men. As he's attacked, he wakes from a dream and realises that it was not really a nightmare but a distortion of newly released memories of how the Society had defeated his plans once before. Degaton travels to Professor Zee's laboratory and kills the scientist. Using the time machine Zee invented, he travels to 1982 but inadvertently also crosses over to Earth-Prime. Attempting to return to Earth-Two he arrives in limbo where he meets and frees the Crime Syndicate of Earth-Three. Teaming up, Degaton uses the Syndicate to steal the missiles that caused the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 on Earth-Prime; the crisis ran its course resulting in a nuclear exchange that devastated Earth-Prime. Having stolen the missiles, the Syndicate attempt to betray Degaton and he moves them to the future of Earth-One where they appear in the JLA's satellite (see part 1 of Crisis On Earth-Prime.) On Earth-Two, arriving for a meeting, the All Star Squadron are attacked by Nuclear, the Magnetic Marauder and once he has been dealt with, return to the Justice Society's where, as seen in part 1 of Crisis On Earth-Prime, the Justice League have just arrived.
