Plot

"Was he a god's keeper? Or was he in a god's keeping? Korvas didn't know the answer, and wasn't sure it really mattered. All he did know was that from the moment he had accepted the gift of the god box and the obligation to fulfill its previous owner's final mission, he'd been plunged into more peril than a poor, dishonest rug merchant deserved. For the small wooden box, with its drawers which sometimes held nothing and at other times contained unimaginable wealth or notes of "sage" advice, was leading Korvas on a roundabout rendezvous with destiny.
