Beginning in 1971, Dr. Price held numerous positions in the North Carolina Division of Archives and History, including editor of the North Carolina Colonial Records Project (1971-1975), assistant director (1975-1981), and director (1981-1995) of the division. After retiring from state service, he taught on the faculty of Meredith College (1975-2006).
