Latin is the language of a vast quantity of untouched source material, yet despite its popular interest there has been no text book to help the beginner to cope with Medieval Latin. This book remedies the omission. After dealing with the basic grammar of Latin, the book examines the structure and vocabulary of the records used in local and family research, including parish registers, marriage licenses, Episcopal visitations, wills, court rolls and deeds. The final chapter explains the abbreviations used and all the necessary tables of declensions.
