From the book's introduction, "The New York Weekly Post Boy, New York's third newspaper, was established on January 3, 1743, by James Parker. Parker, born in Woodbridge, New Jersey, about 1714, was the son of Samuel Parker, a cooper. ... During its thirty years the Post Boy consisted of four pages, with occasional supplementary issues. It ran, often on the first page, treatises on such subjects as oriental fables or the culture of silk. Acts of colonial assemblies were frequently printed and space was given to letters directed to the printer. Prices current in New York and inward and outward entries of ships were Features of the paper. News from London and other European cities was printed, as well as items taken from American newspapers, especially from Boston, Philadelphia, Annapolis, New Haven, Newport, and Charleston." This book is the extraction of genealogical data from this Post Boy newspapers of 1743 through 1773.
