"This volume is a reprint of A.S. Salley, Jr.'s three-volume edition of Warrants for Lands in South Carolina, 1672-1711, published by the Historical Commission of South Carolina in 1910-15. Mr. Salley's remarkably accurate literal transcription of the manuscripts is reproduced from the original edition by the offset process."
"The consolidated volumes have been newly indexed. The spelling of all personal names in the index conforms to that in the text. Where slight variations occur, the most frequent spelling is used. Variant spellings of the same name are added in parentheses if they significantly alter the pronunciation. Liberal cross-references draw the reader's attention to other possible variants of the same name... Abbreviated names are spelled out. Names of vessels are printed in italics. Major geographical and place names still in use conform to the accepted modern spellings..."
