Fascinating in its presentation of the history of a section of early American life is Colonial Caroline, a treasure chest of information: listings of properties and persons and families, the result of exhaustive research on the social, political, military, and economic events; every cout action in the Old Order Books. Until now, the history has been largely neglected of this third most populous and affluent county in Virginia during the Revolution, the descendants of whose early families have contributed as much as any other county in America to the building of the United States.
