THE ALPHABET MAKERS, A PRESENTATION BY THE MUSEUM OF THE ALPHABET, provides a graphic overview of something we tend to take for granted – the importance of alphabets. It also reminds us that the process isn’t over. There are still many languages that do not have an alphabet at all. It’s for this, and for service to the people that speak these languages, that Wycliffe Bible Translators and the Summer Institute of Linguistics exists. To date, they have worked with people in over 1,000 languages. The brief glimpse into a culture given here, and the few mentioned within this book are but examples of many more.
