and how you can avoid them
Abstract: How to perfect one's leadership and managerial skills by avoidance of common manager/employee errors, the objective of this text, is presented after analyses of hundreds of companies. Geared for new as well as seasoned managers, the common pitfalls are reduced to thirteen: blaming a business failure on someone or something else; lack of personnel development; failure to influence performance thinking; recognizing only the top performers; failure to train people effectively; being a buddy instead of a boss; plus other easily pinpointed errors the manager will recognize. Charts on various aspects of management are included as well as self-measurement contracts at the conclusion of each chapter. (jdb).
