It is a brief book, containing only sixy-one verses, yet 2 Peter contains some of the most intense warnings found in the New Testament-warnings about moral corruption, doctrinal compromise, and false prophecy. But don't be intimidated. Second Peter is a power-packed letter that can protect us from being hoodwinked by false teachers and corrupt leaders who sometimes infiltrate the local church. Alongside the severe warnings, we also find faith-building encouragement in this episte. Peter avowed with conviction. We did not follow cleverly devised fables...but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. Despite destructive conflicts within the church, we are assured that, through the unconquerable integirty of God's Word, we can emerge triumphant in the end.
