XS has been stuck in the 20th century. With the help of Flashes John Fox and Jay Garrick, she uses a cosmic treadmill to try to return to the 30th century. She comes up a little short, ending up with her grandfather, Barry Allen (in the 30th century but before he has kids). He helps her get back in the timestream again. But now she ends up in the 100th century, where non-licensed metahumans are outlawed. She is captured by the Protectors, and imprisoned with other illegal metahumans (Avatar, Metallica, Behemoth, and Ultra-Man). After she hears their stories, she uses her powers to break them out, and helps them retrieve their tools and weapons. They fight their dopplegangers, and escape to Avatar's secret lab. They decide to team up into a new Legion of Super-Heroes, and invite XS to join them, but she still wants to get home. Using the Spear of Destiny to start her journey into the timestream, she ends up at Vanishing Point, home to the Linear Men, but is unable to interact with anyone there. Suddenly, the Time Trapper appears, and reveals he is behind her journeys through the 20th, 30th, and 100th centuries, in order for her to gain experience and to learn. He then has her forget the meeting, and returns her to her home in 2995.
