This is the first book to provide a comprehensive analysis of three decades of neoliberal reforms in Chile. Chile is often described as a "model" of neoliberal development policy. Marcus Taylor shows that the reality is very different. Examining the contradictions of neoliberal reform, he shows how it has created a society that is deeply ridden with inequality. Taylor examines the consequences of Pinochet's policies. He shows why the tensions that arose from social inequality led to the emergence of a "Third Way" neoliberalism in the post-dictatorship period.
