Modern Education Systems describes a number of representative systems of education while providing explanations and appraisals of them. This treatment of ten national education systems, taken from Western Europe, Asia, the Far east, North America and Africa, is based on a well-founded theoretical method. In order to facilitate comparison, each system is described according to a uniform structure. The subjects Comparative Education and Educational methodology are enriched by this publication mainly in two ways: It is the first technical book of this nature written in South Africa. The authors have deviated from the method of other writings in this field in that the facto situations of various systems of education are explained, assessed and described according to well-founded educational principles.
