The Tlingit Indians: Results of the Trip to the Northwest Coast of America and the Bering Straits developed and remarkable individualistic American Indian cultures, that of the Tlingit Indians of Southeastern Alaska. Based on original observations of Aurel Krause and his brother, both geographers who spent six months among the Tlingit in the winter and spring of 1881-82, this classic study is the earliest and most comprehensive account of an important Northwest Coast culture before it was significantly changed by European contact.
