Notes

A classic treatise on excellence in teaching for more than 100 years, Gregory's "The Seven Laws of Teaching" continues to make a great impact on teachers. It explores seven basic principles of education that teachers can use to improve their effectiveness in the classroom.

When "The Seven Laws of Teaching" was first published in 1884, Gregory called it "his offering on the altar of service to God and his fellowmen." In 1917, however, his "offering" was revised and theological references were excised from the work. We now resubmit John Milton Gregory's "offering" on the altar of service to God and men, hoping that brain power will continue to be developed for years to come.
