As a little Jewish girl in Germany during the rise of the Nazi party, Reni didn’t get to be a child for long. At six years of age her family moved from their longtime home in Berlin to Amsterdam to escape the Nazi threat and the persecution of Jews.

Reni, who later earned the title Dr. Irene Butter, would move several more times. She was transported to two different work camps and saw horrific atrocities before surviving the Holocaust. But, through all the tragedies she experienced, Dr. Butter was determined to triumph. And she did.

This story details a young girl’s journey through unimaginable experiences to becoming an advocate for social justice and change. Dr. Butter has become a leader in challenging our younger generation to stand up for what is right and to never be a bystander. Triumph Over Tragedy – Dr. Butter has proven time and again this is possible.
