Rick Tyler and Sand visit Rex Tyler, Hourman who is dead, in order to get ideas about how to fight the Ultra-Humanite and the Thunderbolt. The JSA works to keep the Ultra-Humanite off balance while Hourman, Jakeem, and Captain Marvel come up with a plan to defeat him. Wildcat and Dr. Fate fight the still controlled Hawks, managing to defeat them and free Sentinel at the same time. The combined might of the various heroes beats down the Humanite, until Captain Marvel manages to ground him, separating the Thunderbolt from Johnny Thunder's body.
