Carl Bork was a small-time crook who gained mystical strength and invulnerability from a tribe in the South Pacific as a reward for the one generous act he ever made. He tried to use that power, several times, to accumulate money and power... but he was always stopped by Batman and the Flash. Having gained enough strength to break out of prison, he manages to overcome the heroes who have tormented him. But when his presence endangers his mother, he realizes that he has to become a better man. Now, as he's paroled from prison, he needs a job... but it won't be as a criminal.
