In Stone Ridge, the Gray Man watches the approach of the Justice League and sends the now mind controlled Captain Marvel to confront them. Forced to battle their team-mate, the League are unaware of the toll it is exacting upon the Gray Man. Dr Fate taunts him until he can no longer control him, freeing Marvel's mind. The Creeper finds the Gray Man and Dr Fate fighting each other; the strain of controlling Marvel had allowed the Doctor to break free of his spell. The rest of the League, though, are despatched by replicas of the Gray Man. As the replicas converge on Dr Fate, he transports the entire building away from the physical plane.
