Glorifying God
1 Corinthians 10:31
What is the reason for our existence?
Bring My sons from afar, And My daughters from the ends of the earth— 7  Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory.
Isaiah 43:6-7

1 Corinthians 10:31
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
What is God’s Glory?
In the Old Testament..
to brightness
to totality of God’s perfect Character
“Show me your glory.” (Exodus 33:18)
“So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock” (Exodus 33:22)
6 And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, 7 keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.” (Exodus 34:6-7)



2. How can we glorify a perfect God?
By admiring His Perfect-ion in Personal worship.
By causing others to admire and acknowledge His perfection

3. Why does God want us to glorify Him?
- We become like one we worship.
- A good father wants his son to be like him.

Jesus is our Example
“I have glorified You on the earth” (John 17:4).

How JESUS caused others to glorify God..
His Motive:
- “I do not seek my own glory.” (John 8:50)
- “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’?
“Father, glorify Your name.” (John 12:27-28)
His Method:
Revealed the character of God in deeds, words and in His own character (John 1:14, 1:18; 14:9
He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38).

How JESUS caused others to glorify God..
His Success:
- “Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God” (Matt. 9:8)
- So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole..and they glorified the God of Israel. (Matt 15:31)

How WE can cause others to glorify God?
Our Motive:
- “When you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men”(Matt 6:2).
For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. (2 Cor. 4:5)
“Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31)



How WE can cause others to glorify God?
Our Method :
- ”Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matt. 5:16).
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing…. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples
If anyone serves, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 4:12).


How WE can cause others to glorify God?
-“having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:12).

Is there no glory for me?
- “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory”(2 Cor. 3:18)
- “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18)
- “There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness…” (2 Tim. 4:8
- “Crown of glory” (1 Peter 5:4)
