– 5 "If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the widow of the dead man shall not be married to a stranger outside the family; her husband's brother shall go in to her, take her as his wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother to her.

• Ephesians 5:18-20
– 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.
• Guiding Principle: mutual submission in christ

– All Christians are to maintain an attitude of mutual submission to the will of God
– This requires that we submit to each other by treating each other as God instructs
• How submission works in the family
– All submit to the will of Christ and God
– Husband submits in love to wife
– Wife submits to husband as to Christ
– Children submit to parents
– Parents submit to children’s needs

– Security – feel safe and provided for
– Significance – feel valued and treasured
