• Trying to Fool Jesus
• John 4:1-18
• John 4:1-7
4 But He needed to go through Samaria. 5 So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. 7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give Me a drink."

• How John 4 is relevant ...
• Some key positives we need to make in a very negative conversation..
• 1 ... God loves everybody ..
• John 4:4-7 But He needed to go through Samaria.
• 1 ... God loves everybody ..
• John 4:9-10 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."
• 1 ... God loves everybody ..
• Jesus was talking with ..
– A Samaritan ..
– A woman ..
– A very worldly woman .. (vs 18)
• This was why He came to earth ..
– John 3:16; Luke 19:10; 1 Tim. 2:4

• 2 ... Jesus Spoke the truth ..
• John 4:16-18 Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here." 17 The woman answered and said, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You have well said, 'I have no husband,' 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly."
• 2 ... Jesus Spoke the truth ..
• He did it gently, but clearly …
• He affirmed God’s design for marriage and human sexuality ..
• He knew what sin does ..
– Eternally .. Isaiah 59:2
– Now in this life … Proverbs 13:15

• 2 ... Jesus Spoke the truth ..
• Romans 1:24-27 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

• 2 ... Jesus Spoke the truth ..
• 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

• 2 ... Jesus Spoke the truth ..
• Affirmed the positive design of marriage
– Matthew 19:4-6 And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' 5 and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."
• 3 ... You can’t surprise the Lord ..
• John 4:17-18 The woman answered and said, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You have well said, 'I have no husband,' 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly."
• 3 ... You can’t surprise the Lord ..
• Jesus knows about homosexuality..
– “God made me that way..”
– “Jesus didn’t condemn loving, committed relationships”
– “Jesus didn’t specifically prohibit homosexuality”
– “God made homosexuals that way”
• 3 ... You can’t surprise the Lord ..
• No homosexual gene has been found.
• That they cannot change is false.
• Having an inclination doesn’t make things right ..
• No different than what all Christians are asked to do .. 2 Cor. 10:5
• 3 ... You can’t surprise the Lord ..
• Romans 6:12-14 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
• 3 ... You can’t surprise the Lord ..
• Romans 6:15-18 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
• 3 ... You can’t surprise the Lord ..
• Christianity offers the homosexual what the world tells him he doesn’t have …
– A Choice
– A Fresh Start
