VHS Set with Book This new six part video curriculum series examines the varied experience of ordinary people as they challenge issues of faith from a variety of real-life situations. Each episode in this new series opens with intimate conversations with people who tell about their personal spiritual experiences. They come from different backgrounds. One man is homeless, another is a self-made millionaire. They have in common a sincere spiritual search and a willingness to ask God the real tough questions. In the episode on forgiveness, a woman who was gang raped is learning how to let go of her anger as she wonders if she will ever learn to forgive. An older man admits he's tried to forgive his brother for decades, but he just can't. Each episode is hosted by a well-know author who has struggled with and written about these particular issues. The hosts include: Tony Campolo, Philip Yancey, Keith Miller, Richard Foster, Madeleine L'Engle, and Lewis Smedes. Much more the storytellers than theologians, these hosts share what they have learned through their own personal experiences. The series producer says, "for Wrestling with Angels we asked, 'if you could ask God any questions, what would they be?' Questions such as: Why is there senseless tragedy? Is it okay to doubt? Why is it so hard to love? Often these are questions that people say led them away from God. But we've found that by wrestling with them, you actually grow closer to God." The series title, Wrestling with Angels, comes from Jacob wrestling with the Angel of the Lord. The idea behind this wrestling is that it's personal, intimate, one-on-one. Sometimes it can be playful; sometimes you can be injured, as Jacob was, but you always come out of it stronger. "I think people will find insights from hearing the stories of people like themselves." says the producer. "As each host points out, I believe we are dealing with fundamental truths in some very refreshing new ways."
