Indian Entities Recognized and Eligible to Receive Services from the United States Bureau of Indian Affairs

This is the official list of 566 federally acknowledged tribal entities in the United States. The list is separated into two sections - (1) Tribes located in the contiguous 48 states, and (2) Tribes located in Alaska. Amendments to the list include name changes and name corrections. To aid in identifying tribal name changes and corrections, the tribe's previously listed or former name is included in parentheses after the correct current tribal name. The listed Indian entities are acknowledged to have the immunities and privileges available to federally recognized Indian tribes by virtue of their government-to-government relationship with the United States as well as the responsibilities, powers, limitations and obligations of such tribes.
