'T Pousette et 't Poulette : a Cajun Hansel and Gretel

Plot

A Cajun version of the well-known tale in which two children are left in the woods but find their way home despite an encounter with a wicked witch.

In this retelling of the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale, with a Louisiana twist, Cajun twins 'T Pousette and 'T Poulette are caught by the evil Swamp Witch, but they enlist the help of a "cocodrie" to help them. Young readers are introduced to Cajun phrases, and provided with a recipe for "Sauce Patate".
