Plot

Following U.S. Route 58 for 500 miles across Virginia, this motoring guide promises a journey with stops at haunted hotels, covered bridges, lighthouses, waterfalls, mile-high mountains, Civil War sites, and seven state parks. The detailed directions and photos will lead travelers from sea level in the Tidewater region, through the Piedmont, to the Blue Ridge Highlands before they turn to the southwest. The paths of many famous Americans are explored along this corridor, including those of Johnny Cash, Jefferson Davis, Douglas MacArthur, Gregory Peck, and George Washington, and many more odd and tempting stops beckon from listings such as "Confederate Graffiti," "The Real Mayberry," and "Fake Lake."
