Saam was a Korean buddhist monk who sought to explore the mysteries of our bodies' innate Yin-Yang and Five Elements. To treat disease, Saam Acupuncture uses a combination of Five Transporting points of the involved meridians. The text is composed of 43 chapters covering diverse illnesses ranging from stroke to hemorrhoids with specific classifications and acupuncture formulae. Efforts was made to translate the text as accurately as possible, and illustrations were added for each acupuncture combination.About the AuthorSanghoon Lee, KMD, PhD, LAc. Dr. Sanghoon Lee is an associate professor of Acupuncture & Moxibustion at Kyung Hee University. He completed his internship, residency, fellowship in the field of acupuncture, and he also worked at The Johns Hopkins CAM Center and Cancer Center as a clinical research fellow and instructor. Dr. Lee was awarded for his research accomplishments by Society for Integrative Oncology and Korean Society of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, etc. He co-authored several books including recently published Integrative Oncology (Humana Press, USA) and he has lectured on Saam acupuncture and his research work in many international conferences in USA, Germany, Japan, Australia, Czech Republic, etc. Suk-Kyun Hahn, MD. Dr. Suk-Kyun Hahn has searched a way of integrating science and art of medicine. Life led him to Won Buddhism and many reverends, especially Master Zin-San Han, helped him to find the way of making medicine as a vehicle for healing at the body-mind-spirit domain. During early 2000, he was involved in creating the acupuncture program at Won Institute to embrace holism. Currently, Dr. Hahn practices integrative approach in medicine using eastern and western therapeutic modalities. Also, he offers educational seminars periodically to turn sufferings into blessings by enabling and empowering the participants through the embodiment of eastern wisdom. To share his integrative approach in blending science and art of medicine to a wider audience, he was in the process of translating and editing Saam Five-Element acupuncture.
