Based on a true story, Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) has her son kidnapped. An exhausting search is initiated to locate him and months later, he is returned. However, she quickly realizes this is not her son. She presses for a new search to being, but as a woman she is facing an uphill battle in 1920s Los Angeles. There are cops who seem to have their own motivations and a public who doesn’t believe her. However, her luck begins to turn as she finds an ally and a friend in a Reverend (John Malkovich), who helps and aids her in her search.
