Claire Stenwick (Julia Roberts) and Ray Koval (Clive Owen) are ex-government agents who have agreed to get into corporate "intelligence" - aka spying - in order to steal a secret formula for a product that will make millions for the company who patents it. They plan to sell it to the highest bidder for a substantial amount of money so they can retire and never have to work again. However, they do not quite trust each other, so they are constantly testing and tricking each other.
