Jindabyne is a dark story about the death of a young Aboriginal woman who is found deceased in a river in Jindabyne, New South Wales, Australia. The four men who find the woman choose to refrain from informing the authorities about the woman for several days as they continue their fishing trip, the movie follows the story of the choices and subsequent repercussions the men face upon the unveiling of truth in town. An almost supernatural force flows through the Aboriginal people of the town as they turn the four white men's lives upside down seeking some sort of justification for their inaction. The story intertwines the tragic lives of the men and their neighbors, the lives of the colonials and the aboriginals and the line between good and evil. It ends with a theme of reconciliation and departure, not only of several lead characters but of a simpler time, a time without fear.
