Ulrik Torp (Anders W. Berthelsen) is a young reporter with an everyday beat trying to find an interesting story. When the Parliamentary leader is involved in a horrible accident just before elections, everyone assumes that Lone Kjeldsen (Nastja Arcel) will step into his place. That's before Torp is leaked information by a Parliament insider Peter Schou (Lars Mikkelsen), that seems to suggest that Lone has ties to a political scandal and thus shouldn't become the next leader of the nation. Who is Torp going to believe? Peter Schou, who might not have the best of intentions himself, or Lone Kjeldsen, a female attempting to become the leader of a nation? To help him figure out the mystery, Torp can only trust himself and a fellow muckraker Henrik Moll (Nicolas Bro). Soon, both of these men come to find out what happens when you play in the King's Game.
