Miss Marple (Geraldine Mcewan): Season 2
Don't let the knitting needles fool you... Acclaimed British actress Geraldine McEwan slips into the sensible shoes of the mild-mannered master of deduction in an all-new series of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple. True to her acting gifts, which have won many theater and television awards, McEwan brings her own interpretation to the grandmotherly role. McEwan's Marple emerges as sprightly, mischievous, and perhaps more experienced in romance than many fans may have suspected. Each of the four episodes in the series is set in or near the picturesque English village of St. Mary Mead, host to a plethora of baffling homicides. Fortunately, the village counts Miss Marple among its citizens. An impressive list of guest stars are featured, including Derek Jacobi, Joanna Lumley, Simon Callow, Tara Fitzgerald, Ian Richardson, Keeley Hawes, and John Hannah. McEwan joins a list of distinguished actresses who have played Miss Marple in the past, including Margaret Rutherford, Angela Lansbury, and Joan Hickson from the immensely popular Marple series on MYSTERY! in the 1980s. "We are delighted to see the return of this signature series to MYSTERY!," says executive producer Rebecca Eaton. "Christie fans will not be disappointed: Geraldine McEwan is a delicious Miss Marple!"
Death is only steps from Miss Marple when odious Col. Prothero is murdered in her idyllic village of St. Mary Mead. And in the Vicar's study, no less!
A young wife believes her house is haunted. She comes to realize she witnessed the murder of her stepmother there 20 years ago as a child. To help the newlyweds, Miss Marple risks her life solving the crime, stirring a sleeping murderer in the process.
False identities, larceny, and a crime ring are only the tip of the tenticle when Miss Marple stays in a posh London hotel (modelled after Brown's Hotel) where nothing is what it seems. Murder naturally follows, leading to a thrilling chase after the vibrant Lady Sedgewick.
Miss Marple is sent on a mission from beyond the grave to clear a dead man's son. Vowing to find out the truth, she links him to a dead girl, Verity Hunt, and a family of weird sisters. She discovers love, as well as hate, can be a reason for murder.
