True to her acting gifts, which have won many theater and television awards, McEwan brings her own interpretation to the grandmotherly role. Each of the four episodes in the series is set in or near the picturesque English village of St. Mary Mead, host to a plethora of baffling homicides. Fortunately, the village counts Miss Marple among its citizens. An impressive list of guest stars are featured, including Derek Jacobi, Joanna Lumley, Simon Callow, Tara Fitzgerald, Ian Richardson, Keeley Hawes, and John Hannah. McEwan joins a list of distinguished actresses who have played Miss Marple in the past, including Margaret Rutherford, Angela Lansbury, and Joan Hickson from the immensely popular Marple series on MYSTERY! in the 1980s.
