Prince Hal (James McAvoy) is a marionette who is in line to take over his mythical country of Hebalon after his father dies, but nasty puppet uncle Nezo (Derek Jacobi) has jumped into the role first. Hal comes to conclude that his father Kahro (Julian Glover) was no suicide, but may have been murdered by his own evil brother in a diabolical plot. Fortunately Hal meets another beautiful and mystical marionette named Zita (Catherine McCormack) who can serve as mentor and sex partner as he plans to retake the throne from Nezo. In the meantime, Nezo has even sent a marionette assassin after the young prince.
