Don Juan DeMarco

Dr. Jack Mickler (Marlon Brando), a disillusioned yet respected psychiatrist on the verge of retirement, is called in on the case of John DeMarco (Johnny Depp), a young man who, rebuffed in his affections by the centerfold model of his dreams, has attempted suicide. But when he sits down to talk to his patient, DeMarco confides to him that he is not John DeMarco at all, but really Don Juan, the world’s greatest lover, and that his centerfold obsession is, in actuality, his long lost love who’d fled from him after the admission of his numerous conquests and who was now punishing him by appearing in her scandalous photos. DeMarco fills Mickler in on the story of his real life, of the young lovers who were his parents, of his father killed in a duel, of his mother who had retreated to a convent in her sadness, and of his own adventures finding his way in the world. His tales reawaken the magic in the lives of the hospital staff, including that of Dr. Mickler, whose neglected marriage to wife, Marilyn (Faye Dunaway), becomes infused with a new passion and romance.
