Plot

From George Shillibeer's first horse bus of 1829 to the rear-engined red double-decker.This is the story of the London bus and how it has become a symbol of London all over the world.Published to mark the 150th anniversary of Shillibeer's horse-drawn 'Omnibus', it shows the London bus at work, yesterday and today, in the London that everyone knows.More than 220 carefully selected photographs, many of which have never before been published show how the London bus has developed from Shillibeer's three-horse single-decker of 1829 to today's 177 b.h.p double-decker.
