From 'The Early Days of the 'Interlocking System' for Railway Signalling': A view from the Thames bridge, looking towards Charing Cross station, which demonstrates the extent to which the stop signals were in advance of the fouling point and switch blades to which they referred. The three-way point in the left foreground must have been very difficult to keep in good repair.
