Scrutinizing the relationships between the standards and assessment movement in education and America's increasingly multicultural population, the contributors to this volume address teacher education accountability, NCATE accreditation standards, INTASC and NBPTS standards for teachers, state and national PK-12 standards, and issues of alignment and compatibility across a spectrum of areas relative to students' diverse backgrounds and needs.
