The League are dispatched to bring in Ira Quimby who has been experimenting with a virus which causes one in six people to become homicidal maniacs after one hour. While accosting him, Quimby releases the virus on to the League, safe in the knowledge that he is protected from it by a containment suit. As the hour draws on and the League members begin turning against each other, Quimby reveals a force field behind which he will safely watch the League destroy itself. The heroes manage to overload the field, however, forcing him to put them behind individual fields to prevent them from harming each other. With only himself and Blue Beetle outside the fields, Quimby is shocked to see Beetle begin turning into a maniac who chases him down, forcing him to reveal the whereabouts of an antidote. Beetle had been faking and when he returns to the others after an hour, finds that none of them have become murderers.
