"Red Heat" Part 1 of 2. Script by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. Pencils by Jim Calafiore. Inks by Rey Garcia. Cover by Jim Calafiore. Force Works returns to the scene of the crime! The embattled nation of Slorenia in Eastern Europe! When FW previously visited (in issues 4 & 5), the team stormed into the country; but this time they're going in undercover! After receiving a tip from War Machine about the possibility of government-sanctioned genocide; Wanda and the agent hide out with the Dudak ethnic minority, while Tony and Julia infiltrate the Slorene parliament building. With Century and the Recorder circling high overhead in the hex-ship, FW seems to have all the bases covered! However after Spider-Woman makes a ghastly discovery in the catacombs of the government building, Force Works' covert plan blows up! And suddenly the heroes are under attack from all sides as Black Brigade, Volkhvy, and the Targoths move in for the kill! FW's mission of mercy is over; it's now a mission for survival! Cameo appearance by Ember. Flashback cameo by War Machine. Force Works Lineup: Iron Man, Century, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Woman, and the U.S. Agent. (Note: Elements of the plot overlap with War Machine 14.) 32 pages. Cover price $1.50.
