Any Deadly Thing

A revival preacher named Tocsin harangues a crowd in Mud Creek, Texas - but they are all dead! In Houma, Abby invites Chester and Liz to visit the new house Swamp Thing grew, and learns all may not be well between her friends. Chester seeks advice but Swamp Thing has little to offer. Tocsin hears a radio broadcast which mentions mass suicides in several places; they were "worthless sinners". He reaches Terrebonne Parish and finds Gene LaBostrie, asking only to leave a flier. When Gene hesitates his more devout wife Ada scolds him. She believes he could benefit from some religious help since he spends time with Swamp Thing, about whom she is dubious. Tocsin recalls being chosen for Holy Work by an angel. Gene takes Ada to meet Swamp Thing and she comes to like him. Later, Ada attends the revival... and staggers out, a victim of Tocsin's poisoned wine! Gene takes her to find Swamp Thing, who is able to reverse strychnine poisoning! And Tefé guides Ada back to those who love her. Swamp Thing finds the revival and strives to help the poisoning victims within. Tocsin tries to sneak away and there is Gene LaBostrie. Tocsin wonders if this is a test; challenged, he drinks from his own poison chalice - and Swamp Thing allows nature to take its course. He saved most of those in the tent, but not all. But Tocsin's murders will end with these...
