The Helicarrier has been attacked and hijacked. Due to its own defense systems, within 24 hours it will self-destruct to prevent its secrets from falling into the wrong hands. The only S.H.I.E.L.D. agents not on board at the time were Nick Fury himself, and G.W. Bridge's super-agents, who are still young and raw.
