In Manhattan, Sandman and Sandy, the Golden Boy face ordinary citizens driven to rage. They are the victims of one of Stalker's disciples. This one absorbs minds, leaving his victims insane and violent. Sandman and Sandy find him, but he is already engorge on mental energy; as they watch, he draws in more minds and grows larger! Sandy is hurled out of the building - fortunately the Star-Spangled Kid and Stripsey are flying by in the Star Rocket Racer and can rescue him. The disciple is now large enough to climb the Chrysler Building, and he's got the Star-Spangled Kid's mind into the bargain! Stripsey must kayo his partner, and then turn his engineering skills to modifying the Star Rocket Racer for a suicide run, to crash into the giant! But how to keep him busy? That answer is The King, a master of disguise and information, who distracts the giant by aping his dead father. At first this works, but then the monster becomes enraged again. Fortunately, Stripesy is ready. Equally fortunately, Sandy uses his wirepoon to carry himself and Stripesy to safety as the machine smashs into and destroys Stalker's disciple, freeing the insane New Yorkers. But the heroes get only a brief respite, as Doctor Occult arrives to whisk them magically to the real fight against Stalker.
