Following the appearance of Khundian invaders in the Embassy in the previous issue, Martian Manhunter assigns the heroes to cleaning up the debris left behind.
Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, however, leave after a telephone call from a research lab who want to hire them to track down Caitiff, an artificially created vampire.
They track Caitiff to an abandoned sewage works and are attacked by the creature who surprises them by being intelligent and telling tales of how his kind had been hunted and dissected by the reasearch lab. Rather than be taken alive, Caitiff kills himself.
