What if Dr. Doom Had Become a Hero?
| Release: | May 1980 |
| Cover: | Aug 1980 |
Recounting the troubled history of the insidious Dr. Doom, the Watcher shows us a world where a moment's hesitation in his dismissal of Reed Richards' warning sends young Victor Von Doom in an incredibly different direction. With Reed Richards' assistance, Doom's experiments allow him to travel to the netherworld, where he finds his mother suffering in hell, a prisoner of the demon Mephisto. Doom devotes his life to the study of arcane and scientific knowledge to free her from Mephisto's grip, and then to freeing his native Latveria from it's oppressive rulers. Successful in both regards, he is the champion and ruler of Latveria, beloved by all his people. But Mephisto remembers the mortal who dared steal one of his souls, and his arm is long indeed.
