After Jake Mallard loses two brothers to a construction accident, he discovers Max Plumm's poor quality and low-budget approach are the true culprits. Designing weapons based on high iron construction gear, he embarks on a revenge mission as Steeplejack. Luke Cage, of course, sees Mallard as the villain. Plumm hires Cage as security and he tangles with Steeplejack when Mallard returns to destroy Plumm's construction project. That proves tragic for Mallard, when the fuel tank that powers his gear explodes!
