Aquaman and Vulko are incapacitated; the Oumlandians press the attack. An Atlantean girl gives her life to save Aquaman, who has time to recover. Rescuers take Vulko to medical attention while Aquaman disables the Oumlandian submarines with sea life and his own powers. The people make Aquaman feel guilty because he did not arrive in time to save the city. Aquaman then goes to Oumland, whose troops attack him until Prime Minister Stom orders that halted. Within the palace, Aquaman learns Poseidonis caused the trouble when it fired on Oumland vessels in the disputed border between the nations. Regarding this as a border dispute that should never have escalated, Aquaman warns Oumland to cease attacking Poseidonis. The incident troubles the United Nations. Aquaman returns to Poseidonis, intercepting a whaler named Queequeg and defending several children from hungry sharks.
