Kyle Rayner heads home to spend time with his mother, who is suffering from an undiagnosed ailment. The Guardians of the Universe summon him away as they are wont to do, and he goes grudgingly. He detours along the way, and encounters versions of Flash and the Atom that he's generally unfamiliar with.
